About David Dean

David Dean, is a retired patrol sergeant from the Town of LaSalle, Ontario, Canada Police Service. His journey in law enforcement began in December 1978 when he joined what was then known as the Sandwich West Police Force as a cadet. He was later promoted to constable and then to sergeant with LaSalle Police in October 2000. David’s commitment to serving the community culminated in a 35-year career of service with a well-deserved retirement in December 2013.

David first became interested in collecting police insignia and learning about police history while training at the Ontario Police College in 1980. Since then, he has massed a large collection of mainly Essex County Police and Ontario Provincial police items. He also has a large British Police collection, all of which he has proudly framed and displayed. His collection has been displayed at various Police Week events, and also through the International Police Association, of which he is a long-time member.
